At its December 13 meeting in Dana Point, the Coastal Commission will consider SLO County's proposed changes with regard to accessory dwelling units (e.g. granny flats, in-law units, backyard cottages). The County proposes to remove the current restrictions that the owner live either in the main residence or the accessory unit and that there be a paved road.  Should you wish to submit a written opinion, you must do so by 5 PM December 8.  You may fax comments to (831) 427-4877 or send to:

At the November 17 hearing, the hearing officer disallowed the Doyle's request for a minor use permit to use their property as a vacation rental on a number of concerns that includde the character of the driveway and street parking.  The Doyle's may appeal this decision.

The Doyle request for a minor use permit to allow use of their property as a vacation rental is Item 7 on the agenda for the Planning Commission meeting this Friday, November 17.  The Commission meets in the supervisors' chambers and is scheduled to begin at 9 AM.

Due to a scheduling conflict at South Bay Community Center, the LOCAC Land Use Committee meeting has been postponed to November 16.  Same time, same place, same agenda--as far as we know.

Tomorrow's agenda for the LOCAC Land Use Committee includes this item:
"VACATION RENTALS (TIME PERMITTING)- The LUC will continue the discussion on how best to address community concerns related to vacation rentals in Los Osos. We seek input with from both community members and LUC members on this topic, which will likely require multiple meetings to address. The goal is to come up with a list of recommended guidelines."
The meeting begins at 6 PM at South Bay Community Center.
