Chipping Day October 28

Get Ready for Fire Season and Clean Up Your Property!

Complete your tasks by the morning of Monday, October 28th and get the collected cuttings, trimmings, etc. picked up for free!

• Place everything at your curb no later than 8:00 am the morning of October 28th.
• There is no limit to the piles you put at the curb. Do not block traffic!
  
• There is no charge to haul it away. (Funded by the SLO Fire Safe Council.)
• All pruning pieces must be smaller than 6 inches in diameter. No large root balls.
• Cut ends facing out please.
• No ice plant.
• No pampas grass; no rocks, soil, lumber or construction materials, no trash bags.

Pick up is not automatic! If you wish to participate in the Chipping Day, you must notify Firewise Chair Ken Delfino by October 25, 2024 NLT 5:00pm so he can add you to the collection list. Call or email Ken at 805-439-4622, [email protected]. He can also answer any questions about this event.

This is not a landscaping clean-up project for residents, only cleanup of debris such as tree limbs, branches, leaves, bushes, shrubs etc., all materials should be easily accessible for the chipper and large truck (street curb is preferred), no construction materials, no dirt or large root balls, all materials stacked in a linear manner with cut ends facing out, no beehive style piles (Stack as in the photo example above).

Also, be sure to notify Marianne Davis of the time and money you spend on this project so we may include it in our annual progress report to Firewise USA.
